Agnostic of the gender, leadership qualities come from passion, vision, and foresight for ushering meaningful changes for a better tomorrow.  For a leader to lead, it is the leadership quality that takes precedence over the binary of gender.

Celebrating Women’s Day and Making Each One Count

In a display of great camaraderie and participation, Biocon Biologics’ International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration witnessed great enthusiasm and participation of women from our various functions.

The 2024 IWD is aptly themed around #InspireInclusion, as Biocon Group has already come a long way in driving the inclusion agenda.

We have made continuous progress in making ourselves an organization of equal opportunity and shared goals. The gender ratio at Biocon Biologics stands at 28%, and we are committed to boost it further to 33% by 2025.

Our efforts in making women equal participants in the organization’s growth and providing them with equal leadership and other opportunities have been an exciting journey for us.

We believe, when inspired and led by a woman herself, organizations navigate better in attaining success while breaking barriers and moving away from conventions.

“I have always looked at her not just as a woman leader, but as a leader who happens to be a woman, and I think that’s the way to look at it. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has been an amazing role model not just for women, but for all of us as she has inspired so many people around her.”

Mr Shreehas Tambe, CEO & Managing Director, Biocon Biologics.

Diversity for us is moving away from gender stereotypes and the coming together of men and women with a diversity of thoughts, ideas, views, and perspectives towards achieving shared goals.

As a high-performing and merit-based organization, Biocon Biologics is promoting inclusiveness as we want our employees to flourish in their career journeys. Breaking the silos, barriers and biases are critical to our Company’s growth imperative.

Making Women Integral & Determinant Participants of Growth and Success

The IWD celebration at Biocon Biologics also witnessed a couple of interesting panel discussions, “Inspire Inclusion” & “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”.

The idea of Inclusivity and Diversity at Biocon Biologics resides in taking along people of multi-cultural backgrounds from various countries, as creating equal opportunities for everyone is essential in meeting our wider goal of equitable and affordable access to healthcare services to the patients globally.

Belonging to the Generation Z, Y and Z, the participants shared their experiences how our work culture and atmosphere is enabling them in growing professionally at the organization.

Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress: Seema Ahuja, Global Head of Corporate Brand and Communications, moderated the session that explored aspects of women empowerment in positively impacting all facets of our society.

It deliberated upon women’s role in bringing about better healthcare solutions, educational gains, enhanced economic growth and productivity. Women are also needed in ensuring peace and security, as the world battles many crises of the modern era.   The panel participants were Rhonda Anne Duffy, Chief Operating Officer; Karthik SM, Global Head of Talent Acquisition; Kavitha Rao, Principal Scientific Manager, R&D; and Naga Sri Tharun Bhaviri, Senior Executive, Operations.

Our Initiatives toward Gender Parity

The Company’s concerted efforts towards Diversity and Inclusion have resulted in 45% of our scientists in Research and Development (R&D) being women.

Moreover, 400+ women employees are actively participating and benefitting from Company’s dedicated learning and development programs.

In the December 2023 quarter alone, our women hiring in leadership roles stood at over 40%.

No nation, civilization or society can truly progress until women are excluded from decision-makings that concern human lives. At Biocon Group, we are leveraging the advantage of a woman founder leader in addressing the challenges of gender inequality effectively. This puts us ahead of our time in promoting Diversity and Inclusivity at the organizational level.
