PM Narendra Modi recognizes Biocon and other Corporates for Contribution towards the Yellow Line Metro
The launch of the much-awaited Yellow Line Metro feels nothing short of a festival for Bengalureans, especially those who live in or commute to and from Electronic City. Spanning 19.15 km from Bommasandra to RV Road, the Yellow Line links Electronic City to the heart of Bengaluru, promising faster, greener, and more convenient travel.
The line was inaugurated by Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on August 10th, who also acknowledged the contributions of Biocon along with Infosys Foundation and Delta Electronics towards construction of Yellow Line. What greater honor than having the Company’s efforts towards the community and urban sustainable infrastructure recognized and appreciated by the Prime Minister himself!
Bengaluru Metro has also given the country a new model of public infrastructure development. Many important stations have been part funded by companies like Infosys Foundation, Biocon, and Delta Electronics. This model of using CSR is a great inspiration. I congratulate the corporate sector for this innovative effort.
HonorablePrime Minister Narendra Modi
Biocon has always believed that true progress goes beyond business. With this spirit that Biocon Group, through its CSR arm Biocon Foundation, partnered with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to bring the Biocon Hebbagodi Metro Station to life. Company’s contribution to this project has been more than just financial, with investment of Rs 100 crores, with Rs 65 crores directly towards building the station, and the rest dedicated to the ‘Pillars of Bengaluru’ public art initiative. Additionally, the Company has contributed a significant piece of land to facilitate the project. This contribution reflects the Company’s commitment to sustainable development and creating meaningful impact in the communities where it operates.
In addition to infrastructure development and urban mobility, this project was also about contributing to a shared dream of a more connected, sustainable, and people-centric Bengaluru. This initiative is a reflection of Biocon’s ethos – to go beyond business, to stand for sustainable development, and to create a lasting impact in the communities.
Thank you, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for recognising #BioconGroup’s contribution. We remain committed to connecting communities, enabling access, reducing our carbon footprint, & advancing smarter, greener urban mobility for Bengaluru.
“I am truly delighted to see the launch of the Yellow Line Metro, a milestone that represents a significant step towards building a more connected and sustainable urban ecosystem. This development will greatly enhance intra-city connectivity and make commuting more seamless for thousands of people. More importantly, it reflects a conscious effort to address urban challenges through sustainable solutions. By offering an eco-friendly alternative to road transport, the Metro will help ease traffic congestion and significantly reduce carbon emissions. It is a commendable example of how smart infrastructure can elevate the quality of urban life while advancing our collective commitment to environmental stewardship,”

Pillars of Bengaluru
Pillars of Bengaluru is an ode to city’s ‘Everyday Champions’ – people who shape the city. Over 50 metro pillars under the elevated metro corridor between Huskur Gate and Biocon Hebbagodi Metro stations were painted with vibrant Channapatna art; transforming the space into a vibrant cultural space. The project celebrates the unsung everyday champions of the city such as flower sellers, electricians, scientists, IT professionals, nurses, musicians, engineers, and more. The Pillars of Bengaluru stands as a powerful reminder that a city’s true essence resides in its people, not merely in its infrastructure or technological progress. The Public Art Project, widely appreciated by public and covered by the media, adds a unique cultural dimension to the commuter experience.
